Most customers pay something in, even if it's only for cosmetics and even if they tell you they don't. It's a business model if the companies using it weren't making money from it they wouldn't be using it. Unturned is some kid's project, no clue how the business model on that works, but it's hardly indicative of the market or the genre. And I already talked about what a "grind" means in game terms. Gaijin Entertainment is making plenty of money from War Thunder. Originally posted by Dutch:I like how that one dude said there IS no F2P, say TF2, or Unturned, or (despite grind) War Thunder.
Pro tip: Anthem is a better investement in it's current state than Warframe is. But alas Bioware had their heads up their asses and ruined what could've been great. It could've made Destiny better by introducing some well needed competition. I don't remember a single other FPS having as many things to do as the paid version of Destiny does.Īnthem could've been the same. I mean, it's the only one within the niche.
As ♥♥♥♥ as we might believe it can be it's truly the best looter shooter on the market. Destiny is in all fairness a much cheaper and much more fun game all things considered. Most people i traded to were players of simmilar experience with loads of money invested same as me. I've spent a fair bit on platinum to skip on grind but after rivens were introduced i made a banger by trading.
I'd say it actually used to be free when you didin't need to give half your free time in a year to be up to date. Game went overboard with the grindfest and the way the general game development went. I played Warframe for the longest time because it had a cool artstyle and trading was fun. It makes money or companies wouldn't use it. But they're not working for themselves, they're working for Digital Extremes. someone else is buying your Platinum, and you're working for them.Īnd the ones who just grind it out? They're the ones who are always carrying runs solo because for them, it is a second job. Eventually you can grow past that and sell stuff to other players for your Platinum, but most people DON'T start there.Įdit: And Platinum only enters the economy from player purchases, so. Most people who play Warframe end up spending money on Frame and Weapon slots (if nothing else). There are games that lure you in with the idea that all content is available, but it's not, not really. You're wrong in that there are free games - meaning you're free to take them up as a second job, think Warframe. The free version is essentially a non-timed trial version of the game. Note, neither raids nor dungeons have matchmaking and they are not meant to be played solo, nor does Bungie provide a matchmaking system for the game. There's about 5 or so open worlds you can explore free but ones that came with newer expansions will not drop the loot tied to them i'm afraid.
There's a couple linear shooting missions called strikes you can play, which are casual content. They can be replayed as many times as wanted. There's a total of 1 raid and 1 dungeon avaliable for free. Is there a number of dungeons, raids, etc that the community knows is actually available to F2P players? Even if its only to play once a week it'd be nice but not if its just one dungeon and one raid total. But with the content culling that's going on, it ain't all that. If you asked this question about a year and a half ago, i'd say definitely. Originally posted by Dubloon:i'd say if you don't buy expansions it's not worth playing, unless you're into repetitive playlists and constantly being asked to buy the expansions.ĭon't get me wrong, the game's fun and there's a bit to do, quick campaign, a dungeon, a raid, some cool missions, pvp, pve, pvpve and so on and so on.
